OPERA IN CONCERT CHORUS AUDITIONS Positions are available for the 2008-09
Season Attention young singers, established artists, voice teachers and
coaches in the Greater Toronto Area.
You are cordially invited to audition. Please forward this along to a
colleague or a student that might be interested and available. The Opera in Concert Chorus under the expert musical direction of
Conductor Robert Cooper has been a positive starting point for a great number
of artists now enjoying a national and international solo performing career,
among them, Bret Polegato, Monica Whicher, Jackalyn Short, Torin Chiles,
Russell Braun, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Michele Bogdanowicz, all benefited from
the Opera in Concert experience early in their careers. It is part of Opera in Concert’s vision and mandate to promote
the advancement of young Canadian soloists. Many of our chorus members are
selected for solo assignments throughout the season. OIC’s 2007-08 Season was filled with great artistic achievements
and strategic developments of great significance to the company. The release
by Naxos Canada of OIC’s third CD, LA GRISELDA by Vivaldi, adds to the
company’s existing complement of Handel’s RINALDO, and Rameau’s CASTOR ET
POLLUX. The 2008-2009 Season will feature a stunning list of daring
operatic programming: ROBERTO DEVEREUX by Gaetano Donizetti, LA VESTALE by
Saverio Mercadante, IL MONDO DELLA LUNA by Joseph Haydn and KAMOURASKA by
Charles Wilson. Please consider joining the Opera in Concert Chorus for the
2008-2009 Season and add OIC to your career development plans. Opera in Concert Chorus is still looking for singers in the alto,
and bass vocal categories. Please contact our office to schedule an audition at
the Edward Jackman Centre: 947 Queen Street East, Toronto (southeast corner
of Carlaw Avenue and Queen). The panel will consist of Robert Cooper, Opera
in Concert Chorus Conductor and Guillermo Silva-Marin, General Director. An
accompanist will be provided There is no charge for the audition. Please call
