Concert has presented such ‘Rarities in Performance’ as
Mozart’s ZAÏDE, Marschner’s DER VAMPYR,
Bellini’s LA SONNAMBULA, Verdi’s LUISA
MILLER, ZAR UND ZIMMERMANN by Lortzing
and SADKO by Rimsky-Korsakov. OIC’s innovative programming has been
enhanced by the introduction of Canadian works such as Timothy
Sullivan’s FLORENCE, THE LADY WITH THE LAMP, Healey Willan’s
DEIRDRE, Harry Somers’ THE FOOL and John Beckwith’s THE SHIVAREE. Richard Margison, Rosemarie Landry,
Isabel Bayrakdarian, Ben Heppner, Frédérique Vézina, Kimberly
Barber, Barbara Hannigan, John Mac Master, Brett Polegato
and Russell Braun are just a few internationally-renowned artists showcased
early in their careers by Opera in Concert. The roster of singers continues
to grow with recent debuts by Lynne McMurtry, Laura
Whalen, Colin Ainsworth, Meredith Hall, Alain Coulombe,
John Tessier, David Dong Qyu
Lee and Marc Boucher. With your support, OIC can bring greater enjoyment to all our
patrons! A Patron’s Circle Exclusive! A two-year special project is planned, working towards the World
Premiere of KAMOURASKA by Charles Wilson in 2008, with a workshop
presentation this season. |
