Dear PATRONS CIRCLE Members and Friends, Our magnificent season came to an end with THE SNOW MAIDEN,
bringing with it Springtime and visions for the coming season! But first it is a pleasure to report that our 2007-2008 year was
truly remarkable in its achievements with an artistic program only OIC would
dare present. As well, we heard thrilling Canadian talent — many for the first time!
— and in February, we launched our third complete opera recording,
Vivaldi’s LA GRISELDA. This trio of CD releases from Naxos is worthy of
great applause and I hope you are a proud possessor of all three. Surtitles under a Sun Life Financial sponsorship keep improving
and have added a much needed boost to our enjoyment of operas at the St.
Lawrence Centre for the Arts. The Centre’s $3,000.000 renovations
improved our comfort and gave a special touch of occasion to each visit.
Amazingly enough, acoustics that were already known for their excellence
gained extra clarity and distinction. Yes indeed, one can truly say that the 2007-08 Season was a
magnificent accomplishment and I hope that the recently announced 2008-09
Season will be equally appealing to you arid your friends. Your generous and continuing support is the very foundation of
success. Your commitment to Opera in Concert transforms the operas, artists,
theatre and administration into a magic box that serves you and the community
